Honoring the Fallen on Memorial Day
I spent this Memorial Day honoring our fallen heroes with the Silver Spring Veterans Committee. It was a privilege to be asked to say a few words about the importance of our veterans and speak about the significance of remembering and honoring the 1.1 million Americans we’ve lost in conflict. Thank you for the opportunity to speak on this important day of remembrance.

Visiting Biztown at Monroe Elementary School
Last week, I had the opportunity to visit JA Biztown at Monroe Elementary School. It was fun to talk to the students about how I ran for office and became city attorney when Biztown was known as Exchange City. The lessons students learn during this program can translate to a career later in life, as it did for me. Thanks for the opportunity to visit and say a few words!

Local Students Tour the Capitol
This week, several classes from Iron Forge and Winding Creek elementary schools visited the Capitol. I always enjoy hosting student tour groups which provides them with a unique opportunity to learn about our Commonwealth’s history, state government and historic Capitol building. In the Classroom at Elmwood Academy
On Wednesday, I visited the students at Elmwood Academy and enjoyed some time in the classroom! After talking to the students about my job as their state representative, I had the opportunity to read to them. It’s always great to spend time with the next generation of leaders in Pennsylvania!

Touring Kiddie Academy
This week, I also visited the students at Kiddie Academy. While on a tour of its facilities, I spoke with school leaders about their needs and issues in early childhood education and child care. It was great to spend some time interacting with the folks at Kiddie Academy, reading to the students and learning more about the issues child care centers are facing today.

Save on Your Summer Electric Bill
The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) is reminding consumers that most electric distribution companies across the state will be adjusting electric generation prices on Saturday, June 1, for non-shopping, or default service, customers.
With energy prices set to increase in some areas and decrease in others, the PUC encourages consumers to stay informed about these changes and evaluate their energy options, even if they already have a contract with a competitive electric generation supplier. For more information, including a list of “price to compare” adjustments, click here.
You may also learn more about managing energy costs by visiting PAPowerSwitch.com, which includes access to competitive offers as well as energy-saving tips.
Additionally, PAGasSwitch.com, another site run by the PUC, helps consumers compare prices for natural gas providers.
