Kutz Announces Grants to Support 87th District First Responders
February 11, 2025
HARRISBURG – Grant funding totaling over $148,000 was awarded to nine first responder companies that serve the 87th Legislative District under the PA Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, according to Rep. Thomas Kutz (R-Cumberland).
The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature which is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.
“The dollars from these grants will help ensure our firefighters and EMS personnel have the equipment to do their job safely and effectively,” said Kutz. “These men and women, many of whom are volunteers, work hard to serve and protect our communities. I am glad to see investments being made in such a critical part of our communities across the 87th District.”
Grants awarded to companies that serve 87th District are:
• Citizens Fire Co. No. 1 of Mount Holly Springs, $27,891.
• Lisburn Community Fire Company, $13,955.
• Lower Allen Township EMS, $15,000.
• Lower Allen Township Fire Department, $15,676.
• Monroe Fire Co., $16,332.
• New Kingstown Fire Co., $16,106.
• Silver Spring Ambulance and Rescue Association, $15,000.
• Upper Allen Township Fire Department, $13,309.
• Yellow Breeches EMS, $15,000.
The funding for these grants comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, not General Fund tax revenue.
The funding amounts are contingent on the recipients filing their grant agreements with the Office of State Fire Commissioner.
