Remembering 9/11
Today marks the 25th anniversary of one of the worst days in our nation’s history. On Sept. 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 men and women were killed in devastating terrorist attacks in New York; Washington, D.C.; and Pennsylvania, including more than 400 first responders.
While most of us remember both the tragedy and bravery of that day, there are now an estimated 100 million Americans who are too young to remember 9/11. It is our duty to share our perspectives of that day – from fear and sadness to resilience and patriotism – to ensure the lives lost and lessons of that time in our history are never forgotten.
In addition to the annual remembrance events, special programming is planned at Ground Zero and Pennsylvania’s own Flight 93 Memorial. On Sept. 12, officials will break ground for construction of a Visitor Education Center adjacent to the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial in Washington, D.C.
May God bless the souls lost and the loved ones they left behind on this tragic day and always.

Historic Session Held at Philadelphia’s Congress Hall
On Wednesday, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives convened for a special legislative session at historic Congress Hall in Philadelphia in recognition of our nation’s 250th birthday and Pennsylvania’s foundational role in the American story.
Congress Hall served as the meeting place of the United States Congress from 1790 to 1800, making it a particularly meaningful setting for the House to conduct the people’s business. In conjunction with America250PA, the day also included a civic learning experience for students from across the Commonwealth. I was pleased to host Jordyn Nailor, a junior at Cumberland Valley High School, and share this historic occasion with a student from the 87th District.

Breaking Ground at Adventure Park
Tuesday morning, I was honored to join local officials and community leaders for a groundbreaking ceremony at Adventure Park in Silver Spring Township. The project includes important upgrades to sewer infrastructure that will help support the park and surrounding community for years to come. I appreciate the invitation to take part in this exciting milestone and look forward to seeing the improvements take shape.

Discussing the Growth and Affordability Plan on Face the State
This past Sunday, I joined Face the State to discuss the Growth and Affordability Plan, a 10-bill package I’m introducing alongside my colleagues to help make Pennsylvania more economically competitive and a more affordable place to live, work and raise a family.
I appreciated the opportunity to highlight how these proposals would provide meaningful relief for Pennsylvania families while helping create an environment where our communities and businesses can thrive.

Connecting with Older Adults at a Community Senior Expo
On Thursday, members of my staff participated in Sen. Dawn Keefer’s first-ever Community Senior Expo. The event brought together local organizations, service providers, and community resources to connect area seniors with valuable information and assistance. My team appreciated the opportunity to speak with attendees, answer questions, and share the services available through our district offices.

This year's keynote speaker will be Rep. Joe Kerwin, a Pennsylvania Army National Guard officer and Operation Enduring Freedom–Horn of Africa veteran.

Settlement to Help Protect Kids on Social Media
Pennsylvania is part of a multistate coalition that recently reached a settlement with Meta that assures the social media company will implement sweeping changes to its existing age assurance framework, limit children’s time on its platforms and cut kids’ access to harmful content.
According to Attorney General Dave Sunday, the settlement, which involves up to $17.1 billion in national remediation payments, is the largest-ever settlement involving a big tech company. Pennsylvania is expected to receive $516 million over a period of years — and up to $729 million. The total is contingent on other major social media companies agreeing to the same sweeping changes.
Among the changes Meta must implement under the settlement are:

Hard cap daily time limits and “productive pauses” for children to interrupt endless scrolling. |

Nighttime blocks restricting children’s access from midnight to 6 a.m. |
| |
• |
Limited school-time access for children by eliminating push notifications on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the school year. |

• |
Limits on social comparison features, including beauty filters and visible “like” counts. |
| |
• |
Stronger, more user-friendly parental controls. |
